Community Helpers

Over the last two weeks, we have had a lot of fun learning about community helpers. Today, that culminated in a REALLY fun, jam-packed day!

While we were learning about community helpers, we completed "Know and Wonder" charts for each helper we learned about. We discussed things we knew and things we wanted to know.

Earlier this week, we each got index cards to write down specific questions about what we wanted to know.

Then today, we had a great surprise! A pilot in the U.S. Air Force (who happens to be very special to me :-) ) came to visit us! Lt. Harmon told us all about how to operate airplanes, and how he keeps us safe!

We had a great day!

Community Helper Visits

Yesterday and today, we had some special guests come visit OES. We were able to interview our guests and we learned a LOT about what they do to keep us safe. We even got to see a fire truck and police car!

We have had so much fun learning about community helpers. I have loved seeing the "ah-ha" moments, especially when the community helpers came to visit and answered some of our burning questions :)

Next week, we will begin a really fun PBL (project based learning) about science and fall!
