What Happens if You Don't Brush Your Teeth?

This week, we wondered what would happen if you didn't brush your teeth. We conducted an experiment by putting 3 hard boiled eggs into different solutions. We put one egg in coke, one egg in water, and one egg in vinegar.

Then we wrote down our thoughts...

Today, we took out the eggs! The egg in the coke turned a nasty brown color. We decided that when you drink a lot of dark things and don't brush your teeth, your teeth may turn brown!

The egg in the water was beautiful and white. (I even had to break it open to prove it was actually an egg!) This helped us conclude that water is good for your teeth.

You can't see it well in the picture, but the egg that had been in vinegar got really mushy and the covering of the egg had cracked and wasn't protecting the egg as well. We discussed tooth enamel and how foods that are very acidic can wear away at your teeth if you don't take care of them properly.

Wonder of the Week #18

What is matter?

Even or Odd?

In math, we have been focusing on even and odd as our introduction to addition. Yesterday, we had a lot of fun getting to explore even and odd numbers with Fruit Loops! Here are some pictures of friends discovering whether they had an even or odd number of Fruit Loops on their napkin.
