Pete The Cat Scavenger Hunt, Letters and Numbers, and Writing! Oh my!

Today was such a fun, busy day!

This morning, we read, Pete the Cat Rockin' in My School Shoes. We made a chart of all the places Pete went during the story, and then we decided to go check it out for ourselves in a school tour / Pete the Cat scavenger hunt!

First, we hit up the playground... but there was no Pete to be found! We figured he thought it was too hot so he went inside. :)

Then we went inside to check out other places Pete went throughout the story. We found Pete by the library! He must have been checking out books.

And then we found Pete hanging out by the computer lab. He must have had computer for activity today!

Then we went to check out the front office, and we ran into Dr. Patterson AND Pete! We were so happy to see our principal this morning!

Then, like our story, we went to check out the cafeteria! Pete must have gotten hungry and wanted some lunch! :)

Then, we found Pete by the gym! He must have wanted to work out some of his wiggles!

Pete must have wanted to paint today, because then we saw him outside of the art room.

Finally, we saw Pete outside of the music room. He must have felt like singing after his adventures throughout the school!

We had a great time on our school tour. It is always fun getting more familiar with the school building.

Then, during math, we read ABC vs. 123 and did a sorting activity with letters and numbers. Not only did we practice identifying letters and numbers, but we also practiced cutting and gluing, two very important kindergarten skills!

Then, during writing time, we had a mini-lesson on writers and what they write about. All the bullet points in purple were suggestions by friends about what you could write about. After all those suggestions, we decided that writers can write about, well, anything! We practiced writing about anything by participating in free choice writing today. We shared our pieces after we finished. It was so neat to see what my friends wanted to write about.

Stay tuned for more learning in Fort Kindergarten!
