Shape Walk and New Math Stations!

In math, we have begun our unit on shapes. This week, we are focusing on 2D shapes. We read a book about shapes and discussed different shapes we see in real life. We noticed a few in our classroom...

(There were so many in this one that my friends pointed out I will let them explain them to you instead of me :-) )

After looking around our classroom, we decided to go out into our school and look during a "Shape Walk". We found out our bulletin board is a rectangle...

We found this heart shaped leaf...

We found this rectangle-shaped door...

AND on our way back to the kindergarten hall, we found these stars!

We could have found SO many shapes, but we had NEW stations to learn today! We were so excited to get started.

In Math with technology, we're beginning to work on thelearningodyssey.com. If you are interested in having your child's log-in information so they can work on Odyssey at home, please let me know!

We also LOVE working on the iPads!

In math games and math work, we're working on sorting shapes, seeing how many different ways we can create hexagons, as well as working on geoboards to create shapes, and ordering number cards from 1-100!

In writing about math, we're unleashing our creativity and using shapes to create different objects. We then count and record the number of shapes we used to make these different objects.

Our new math stations are so much fun and we are so excited about our new shape unit! I can't wait to see what else we learn in our shape unit!
