During our two day week, we really wanted to take time and stop to really think about the things most special to us. During the entire month of November, we have followed Junie B. Jones's lead and have kept a "thankful list" adding something to it every single day that we are thankful for. Yesterday, we read The Most Thankful Thing by Lisa McCourt. We had a big discussion in our classroom about how it is not always WHAT we're thankful for, but a lot of the time, WHO we are thankful for. We wanted to create our own versions of The Most Thankful Thing (some of us created more than one! We know we have a lot to be thankful for), so we got straight to work.
Although we had our mentor text, The Most Thankful Thing, a lot of us chose to write about something we are thankful for. Some of us chose to follow the pattern of the mentor text. I loved seeing my friends take their own creative spin while still writing about what was important to them.
This Thanksgiving, Fort Kindergarten would also like to thank everyone who keeps up with us! We are busy learning and growing, and it means a lot to us that you are interested in our work. Happy Thanksgiving!!
