What Will Our Ducks Need to Survive?

6 days until hatch day!!! Can you believe it? We are SO excited!!!

This morning, we began to think about the things we will need to do to take care of our ducks when they hatch. We discussed that the ducks will need food, water, and us to take care of them. Mrs. Roper and I showed our friends the brooder our ducks will be staying in after they hatch. We remembered from the skype conversation we had with our 4k friends that when ducks hatch, they are wet. We talked about letting our ducks stay in the incubator for a little bit so they can dry out. After the ducks dry out, we will be moving them to the brooder to stay under the warmer so that they can get the strength they need to walk and grow!

After our exploration and discussion, we recorded our learning in our An Egg Is Quiet journals...

"When our ducks hatch we will feed them food and water. We will let them dry off in the incubator. After they hatch we will move them to the brooder."

"When our ducks hatch we will take very good care of them. We will let them dry off in the incubator after they hatch. Then, we will move our ducks to the brooder so they can stay warm and grow strong. After that we will let them exercise."

"They need food and water and lots of exercise."

"Our ducks need water and food and they have to be warm and they have to run around and when they run around they get exercise."

"They need to eat and they need to exercise."
