Today, we wondered how kites work. We created kites from plastic grocery bags and yarn. We first kept our kites inside and tried to fly them. It didn't work!
Here is Lane explaining why we could not fly our kites inside...
Since he suggested we need wind to fly kites, we went outside! And WE HAD A BLAST! The wind was perfect today for kite flying and we got to experience first hand the difference wind makes in kite flying. Here are some pictures of us flying our kites.
Then, we came inside and got our wonder journals and wrote about what we noticed about our kites. Here are a few of the writings shared this afternoon:
"My kite was flying high and it was not flying inside because there was no wind and outside my kite was flying."
"We can't fly kites inside because there is no wind. We can fly it outside."
